Alvin J. Luchies

Mr. Alvin J. Luchies, age 89 years of Fremont, went Home to be with Jesus on Friday afternoon, January 13, 2017.  He was born on April 12, 1927 in Fremont, Michigan to John & Johanna (Lankhorst) Luchies.  Al was a lifetime member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, he was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and he was a member of the Fremont VFW Post #6898.  He delivered milk for 37 years until his retirement in 1980, when he then drove semi for Speas and for Michigan Produce Haulers.  On July 8, 1949 he married Norma I. Homan and she survives him along with 10 children:  Sharon (Milan) Schipper of Fremont, Judy (Ed) Bell of Fremont, Vickie Luchies of Fremont, Chris (Dave) Breuker of Fremont, Duane (Nancy) Luchies of Fremont, Jan (Keith) Breuker of Fremont, Sue (Bill) Hoekstra of Montgomery, New York, Lori (Wayne) Chrystler of Fremont, Tammera Gillette of Grand Haven, Julie (Tim) Zeldenrust of Holton; 22 grandchildren & 27 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Gordon (Charlene) Luchies of Fremont; 1 sister, Carolyn (Roger) Frens of Fremont; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces & nephews.  Al was preceded in death by his sisters Alvedor Luchies & Marge Ensing, and by his brother Harvey Luchies.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont (721 Hillcrest Drive) with Pastor Drew Sweetman officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will also be at the church from 4-7 PM on Tuesday.  Suggested Memorials:  The Fremont Area Community Foundation for either the First Christian Reformed Church Endowment Fund, or for the Newaygo Medical Care Facility Endowment Fund.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
