Catherine "Kate" C. (DeLong) Christoffersen

Mrs. Catherine C. "Kate" Christoffersen, age 99 of Fremont, went to be with Jesus from Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont on Wednesday evening, March 8, 2017.  She was born on December 3, 1917 in Aetna, Michigan to William & Swoney (VanderTuuk) DeLong.  Kate had been a member of Aetna Calvary Church, and she was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  She had been very active in the Aetna School Mother's Club, and she had been a recess aid at Daisy Brook School in Fremont.  She had served on the Garfield Township Elections Board, and she wrote and recited poetry.  Kate spent the rest of her time raising her 10 children, and therefore did a lot of cooking & baking.  On April 17, 1937 she married Richard "Chris" Christoffersen whom she deeply loved for 71 years until he passed away on May 20, 2008.  She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Sheri Herin & Allene Cook; by her great grandson, Josh Cook; and by her brother & his wife, Ted & Beverly DeLong.  Kate is survived by 8 children:  Richard W. (Tammy Kay) (Christina, Deceased) Christoffersen of Rosenberg, Texas, Greg (Pam) Christoffersen of Fremont, Gene (Donita) Christoffersen of Fremont, Steve (Mary) Christoffersen of Fremont, Barb (Robert, Deceased) Hollinger of Grant, Kim (Carl) Christenson of Holt, MI., Joni (Tim) Boeskool of Fremont, Lon (Tammy) Christoffersen of Fremont; 2 sons-in-law:  Larry (Sue) Herin of Hesperia, Paul (Roberta) Cook of Shepherd, MI.; 28 grandchildren, over 50 great grandchildren & counting, & over 10 great great grandchildren & counting; and by many nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Aetna Calvary Church (3944 W. One Mile Road) with Pastor Phil Jones officiating.  Interment will be in Sherman Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 2-5 PM on Sunday.  Suggested Memorial:  Fountain View Retirement Village of Fremont.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
