Donald Ray Strayer

Mr. Donald Ray Strayer, age 88 years of Fremont, passed away on Saturday morning, May 27, 2017.  He was born on November 26, 1928 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Guy & Mabel (Brickey) Strayer.  Don graduated from Walkerville High School in 1946, he married Patricia Johnson on September 16, 1950, and he was drafted into the US Army in 1951 and served in Korea.  He worked at DuPont Chemical Plant in Montague for 32 years.  Don enjoyed hunting & fishing with his family, playing cards with friends & family, reading, & traveling.  He is survived by his wife, Pat; sons:  David & Gina Strayer of California, Brian & Barb Strayer of Casnovia, Dennis Strayer of Casnovia; daughter-in-law, Desiree Strayer; grandchildren : Jackie Strayer, Zachary Strayer, & Scott Strayer; step-grandchildren:  Ed, Bernie, & Mike of California, Johanna of England; sister, Alta (Don) Drum of Mears; sister-in-law, Eleanor Fogg of Hesperia; brothers-in-law:  Carl & Florence Johnson of Muskegon, Murray Johnson of Hesperia; and sisters-in-law, Jean Johnson of Fremont & Elaine Johnson of New Era.  Don was preceded in death by his son, Richard (Rick) Strayer; parents, Guy & Mabel Strayer; brothers-in-law:  Forrest Fogg, Jack Johnson, & Bernard Johnson; and sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Fremont Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev.
