Mr. Erwin (Ed) B. Zenk, age 90 years of Fremont, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, September 14, 2017.  He was born on March 6, 1927 in Howard City, Michigan to Benjamin & June (Griffes) Zenk.  He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, where he was stationed in the Philippine Islands.  Ed had been employed by Gerber Products Company for 40 years until his retirement, and he had been the Captain of the Police Reserves of Fremont for 21 years.  He enjoyed Canadian fishing trips, hunting in Michigan & Alaska, his golfing league, woodworking, and his yard.  Ed was also a world traveler, and he was well known for his peanut brittle.  He married Mary Sue Morris on July 2, 1949 and she preceded him in death on January 31, 1993.  Together they had 4 daughters:  Margaret Zenk (John Redden) of Captain Cook, Hawaii, Brenda Beyer (Steve Brown) of Rockford, MI., Julie Zenk (Aden Kerns) of Fremont, MI., Barbara Zenk (John Jones) of Fremont, MI.; grandchildren:  Benjamin Redden (Elisa Moss), Elizabeth Beyer Alexander (Jon Alexander), Dawn Galentine (Donovan Padecky); great grandchildren:  Genevieve Moss, Gavin & Ava Alexander, Seth & Hannah Galentine.  On February 5, 1995 he married Patricia Richardson and she survives him along with her 5 children:  Shawn Archer of Norton Shores, MI., Judith Pekel (Larry) of Fremont, MI., Barbara Bunda (Mark) of Norton Shores, MI., John Richardson of Muskegon, MI., Patrick Richardson (Kelly) of Grand Rapids, MI.;  9 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren; brothers:  Ronald (Shirley) Zenk of Fremont, MI., Gene Zenk of Howard City, MI., Kenneth (Judy) Zenk of Fremont, MI.; and sisters-in-law:  Mary Zenk of Howard City, MI., Betty Zenk of Fremont, MI.  Ed was preceded in death by his sisters:  Doris Gardenour & Mary Cornett; and by his brothers:  Bernard & Arnold Zenk.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Fremont (51 W. Oak Street) with his nephew Pastor Tom Ekkel officiating.  There will be a Graveside Service at 1:30 PM on Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, with Military Honors provided by the US Naval Reserves and the Newaygo VFW Post #4249. Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 2-4 PM on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
