Ethel Knight

Mrs. Ethel Mae Knight, age 96 years of Honor, MI., and formerly of Holton, MI., passed away on Sunday morning, October 30, 2016 at Homesteader Assisted Living in Benzonia, MI.  She was born on September 13, 1920 in Sherman, Illinois to Raymond Floyd & Grace Ethel (Buckner) Brooks.  Ethel had been employed by Westfield Sommers in Fremont for 10 years, and she had worked alongside her husband on the family dairy and asparagus farm in Holton, MI. for many years.  She loved crocheting, knitting, cross stitching, and quilting.  On September 13, 1939 she married Richard F. Knight and he preceded her in death on March 2, 2000.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers:  Raymond, Robert, & Melvin Brooks; and by her sister, Thelma Ludlow.  Survivors include 3 children:  Kenneth (Alma) Knight of Grand Rapids, David (Judy) Knight of Honor, MI., Betty (Dwight) Swisher of Interlochen, MI.; 5 grandchildren:  Donna Knight, Shelley Rosenberry, Scott (Diane) Knight, Penny (Dennis) Childs, Jeffrey (Leslie) Swisher; 10 great grandchildren & 7 great great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Lucille Brooks of Grand Haven; and by many nieces & nephews.  A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery in Holton, Michigan, with Pastor Jerry Selleck officiating.  A luncheon will follow at 12:00 Noon at the One East Main Banquet Room in Fremont.  There will be no visitation.  Suggested Memorial:  The Gathering Place Senior Center, 10579 Main Street, Honor, MI.  49640.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc., of Fremont.
