Gladys (VanTongeren) Kroll

Mrs. Gladys Kroll, age 99 years of Newaygo, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 16, 2016 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont.  She was born on June 19, 1917 in Fremont, Michigan to Peter & Tinnie (Pell) VanTongeren.  Gladys had been an RN at Gerber Hospital in Fremont for 27 years until her retirement in 1976, and she was a member of the Newaygo United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women.  She had also been involved in the Low Vision Support Group, and The Arc of Newaygo County.  Gladys shared her love of family and friends by providing them with delicious meals, and she enjoyed traveling and camping.  On May 3, 1942 she married Howard H. Kroll and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1993.  She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers:  Herman, Paul, & Earl; and by 3 sisters:  Jennie, Ruth, and Iris.  Survivors include 4 children:  Dave (Karen) Kroll of Newaygo, Brian (Rosemary) Kroll of Midland, MI., Rod (Helen) Kroll of Fremont, Candace Jean Kroll of Newaygo; daughter-in-law, Marcia Kroll of Newaygo; 9 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters:  Marie Maring of Harris, MN., Helen Worst of Kentwood; and many nieces & nephews.  The family would like to thank the Newaygo Medical Care Facility Staff for their special care and concern.  The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Newaygo United Methodist Church (101 State Road) with Pastor Marty Cobb officiating.  Interment will be at Clark Cemetery near Fremont.  Visitation will also be at the church from 10:30-12:00 Noon on Saturday.  Suggested Memorials:  Newaygo United Methodist Church, or Low Vision Support Group.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
