Welcome to the memorial page for

John A Roossinck

October 11, 1919 ~ July 12, 2017 (age 97) 97 Years Old

John A Roossinck departed to be "with Christ, which is far better," (Philippians 1:23) early the morning of July 12, 2017.  John was born on October 11, 1919 to Alex and Catherine (Nieman) Roossinck.  He grew up on the family dairy and fruit farm in Reeman, farming with his father and brother Henry for many years.  He spent four years (1942-1946) in the army, serving his country during WWII at Camp Cook, California (now know as Camp Pendleton).  It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Shirley Hamilton.  They were married on August 15, 1949, and were totally devoted to each other for 67 years, until the day Shirley passed away, October 1, 2016.

John and Shirley raised their four children on the farm: Ralph (MaryAnn), John (Shirley), Susan (Bernie Hayhoe), and Mary. John and Shirley later moved into Fremont and most recently resided at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility.

John was well known in the community and in fruit growing circles as a fruit grower, as well as for operating the apple packing and storage facility.  The farm that was started by his grandfather continues today with his sons Ralph and John, and grandson Eric, the fifth generation.   He was respected for his work ethic and integrity, but most of all for his unwavering faith in his Saviour.  He often quoted, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God… Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."  At a young age, John put his faith and trust in Jesus as his Saviour, and has rested in the assurance that he would one day be with his Lord and Saviour.  John was in fellowship with those Gathered to the Name of the LORD Jesus at 414 Lake Drive, Fremont.

John is survived by his three remaining children and spouses, and his adoring grandchildren:  Ryan (Kara) and Heather Roossinck; Eric (Elizabeth), Kevin (Michelle) Roossinck, and Eileen (Andrew) VandenBerg; Rebekah (Brandon) Walters, Glen (Natalie) Hayhoe, Rosemary Hayhoe, and Jennifer (Matthew) Sjaarda; and 18 great grandchildren:  Evan, Lauren, Asa and James Roossinck; Sydney, Sienna, Kaden and Kennedy Roossinck;  Emma, Drew, Mary and Thaddeus VandenBerg; Hannah, Zachary, Miles and Theodore Walters, and Rachel and Diana Hayhoe.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley, precious daughter, Mary, dear daughter-in-law, Robin, and all his siblings and parents.

Special thanks to the staff at Newaygo Medical Care Facility for their compassionate care.
