Welcome to the memorial page for

June Alberta (Deters) Bushen

December 15, 1927 ~ October 8, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old

June Alberta (Deters) Bushen shed her worn and broken earthly body on October 8, 2016, and entered into the glory of heaven to be present with her Lord.  For some time she had been anticipating the joy of reuniting with her many loved ones who have passed on ahead.  June was born to Herman and Anna (Cook) Deters on December 15, 1927, in Reeman, Michigan, and was baptized in the Reeman Christian Reformed Church, where she remained a life-long member.  Her memories were of a "rich" childhood overflowing with the wealth of laughter and love intertwined with a deep reverence for her Savior, Jesus Christ.  On November 28, 1947, she married her World War II Army soldier Gerald Edward Bushen upon his return from Japan, and for 57 years they shared the joys and sorrows of a life built on the firm foundation of faith until his death in 2004.  June brought much love and fun to her home and to those around her.  She was a woman of prayer, praise, and thankfulness, and she was a servant for God.  June's love for others was demonstrated by her countless actions in tending to her family, her widowed mother, her husband throughout his illness, and in visiting those who were shut-in.  Family meals routinely concluded with gathering leftover meals in Tupperware containers to take to those who were in need of a visit and encouragement.  She treasured her family and life-long friends who added a zest and sweetness to her life.

June was preceded in death by her husband Jerry and grandsons Ross Binnendyk and Matthew Bushen; brothers Howard, Gordon, and infant Harvey; sisters Doris (VanderLaan) and infant Kathleen; sisters-in-law Virginia Deters and Shirley Bushen Elliott; brothers-in-law Harold VanderLaan and Richard DeBruyn; niece Patty DeBruyn; and nephew Randy Bushen.

June is survived by her sister Joyce DeBruyn of Traverse City and her brother-in-law Gordon (Verda) Bushen of Fremont.  As her parents before her, she passes on her baton of faith to her children:  Mary & Randy Busch and Ed & Kathy Bushen of Fremont, Lynette & Bill Dooley of Holland, and Luanne & Marty Binnendyk of Zeeland.  She leaves a legacy of joy and strength to her grandchildren and precious jewels:  Scott & Maria Busch (Madison, Mallorie, Casey, Brendon); Jeffrey & Stephanie Busch (Luke, Matthew); Amy & Jeff Oonk (Ryan, Joshua, Estelle June "June, Jr."; Bethany Bushen; Adam Bushen; Jason Bushen; great grandson Eli Bushen; Jordan Dooley; Eric & Kelly Binnendyk; Sandy Binnendyk; and 15 nephews and nieces.  June also considered Pastors Les VanDyke and Nate Kooistra and their families as her family.

The Bushen family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Green Acres, Fountain View, Trillium Springs, THS, the Newaygo Medical Care Facility, and Heartland Hospice who lovingly cared for their mom.  They are thankful for the many new friends she made at each of her "homes"  and grateful for all all those who phoned, visited, shared a root beer and cookie, and sent cards to brighten her days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial offering to Reeman Christian Reformed Church.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Reeman Christian Reformed Church (6121 S. Fitzgerald) with Pastors Les VanDyke and Nate Kooistra officiating.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Wednesday.
