Mr. Kenneth R. Lubbers, age 78 years of Fremont, had Jesus come and take him by the hand to go Home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, July 29, 2016.  Ken was born on April 13, 1938 to Harold & Marian (Drenth) Lubbers at home in Sheridan Township, Michigan where he lived his entire life.  After graduating from High School, he worked for Am Store in Muskegon for 9 years.  He was then drafted into the Military and served for 2 years.  In 1968 he began working as custodian for Fremont Christian School, where he worked for 35 years until his health deteriorated.  Ken enjoyed wood working, yard and garden work especially with flowers, and he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.  He was a lifetime member of Reeman Christian Reformed Church. where he began working as the church custodian in 1964, and where he served as a Deacon & Elder, and taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent for about 10 years.  In 1964 he was also part of a group of 5 church men who founded the Fremont Wood-N-Stream Council of the Calvinist Cadet Club, where he was a Cadet Counselor for almost 29 years.  On December 27, 1963 he married Marcia M. Boes and she survives him along with 2 children, Chris Lubbers & Joni Lubbers both of Fremont; 8 grandchildren:  Jasmine, Ashley, Michael, Summer, Autym, Wynter, Lakhota, & Orion; 3 great grandchildren:  Cada, Sofia, & Mia; 2 sisters:  Nancy (Bob) O'Leary of Grand Rapids, Bev Herre of Fort Collins, Colorado; 1 brother, Jack (Sherry) Lubbers of Fremont; and many nieces & nephews.  Ken was preceded in death by his brother, James Lubbers.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a time of visiting with the family at Reeman Christian Reformed Church (6121 S. Fitzgerald) from 6-8 PM on Monday, August 1, 2016, and from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Reeman Christian Reformed Church with Pastors Les VanDyke & Nate Kooistra officiating.  Military Rites will be provided at the church by the Holton American Legion Post immediately following the service, and then there will be a luncheon at the church.  Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery.  Suggested Memorials:  Pay to Play - Fremont Public Schools, or Fremont Wood-N-Stream Council of the Calvinist Cadet Club.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
