Nicholas "Nic" Roman Skivers

August 9, 1991 ~ October 4, 2016 (age 25) 25 Years Old


Nicholas "Nic" Roman Skivers, age 25 of Fremont, was removed from life support at 12:04 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with his mother, father, and cousin Vernon by his side.  Nic was born on August 9, 1991 in Leesburg, Florida a normal and fun loving third child of Nanette Skivers and Kem Skivers.  At 18 months, Nic got scratched by a kitten and it turned into cat scratch disease (a form of Encephalitis), and at that point he was cared for in ICU at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Florida.  His momma Nanette along with the help of Roberta "Birdie" McGlone, stayed right at his side and taught him to walk & eat again.  He was our miracle boy!  Nic came to live with his grandma & grandpa Inman in Michigan when he was 10 years old so that he could receive better health care.  He went to Groveland Elementary School in Florida, Daisy Brook School in Fremont, Fremont Middle School, and the Fremont ISD Special Education Program.  Nic will be remembered for his wrestling figures, hand made potato heads, deer heads, Dale Earnhart, Jr. #88 racing gear, his collection of koozie cup holders, and play station 2 pro wrestling games.  He also loved and demanded his daily travels with his grandpa Al.  Nicholas is survived by his momma, Nanette Skivers; daddy, Kem Skivers; grandma, Helen Inman; grandpa, Alfred Inman; brothers:  Tony Walton, Benny Skivers, & Joey Skivers; nieces from Benny:  Jaden & Sasha Skivers; nephews from Tony:  Davon & Braydon Walton; niece from Tony, Maddy Mathews; his brother from another mother, Jeremy Walton & his wife Katrina; his closest supportive family:  uncle Ron & aunt Cherry Walton & family, uncle Tim Burns & family, uncle Forrest Burns & family, uncle Tom Burns family, aunt Debbie Gottke & family; as well as a multitude of family & friends in Michigan, Florida, & Ohio.  Nic was preceded in death by his brother, Jarred; grandparents:  Albert & Patty Fugitt; and by his aunt Rita (whose husband Bud still survives).  A memorial visitation & luncheon will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 2-5 PM at the Sherman Township Hall (2168 S.
