Mrs. Sharon Faye Thatcher, age 62 years of Grand Rapids & formerly of Fremont, went to Heaven to be safe in the arms of Jesus on June 7, 2016. She was born on September 26, 1953 in Grant, Michigan to Harold & Elaine (VanDuinen) Geers. Sharon was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, and she had been employed at Country Squire Pharmacy in Fremont for 30 years until her retirement. She loved family activities, reading, and she was a great encourager. On April 7, 1973 she married Steven D. Thatcher and he survives her along with 2 children & 3 grandchildren: Alison (Aaron) Adema of Grand Rapids and their children Gibson & Izabel, Chris (Rachel) Thatcher of Grand Rapids & their daughter Olivia; her parents, Harold & Elaine Geers of Jenison, MI.; brothers & sisters: Cal (Noni) Geers of Wyoming, MI., Carol Geers Bajema of Florida, Phyllis (Dirk) Bakhuyzen of Grandville, MI., Brian (Amy) Geers of Ada, MI.; brother-in-law, Larry (Lisa) Thatcher of Delton, MI.; sisters-in-law: Ellen (Kevin) Rambadt of Reed City, MI., Lynn (Chris) Pulling of Leslie, MI.; and by many nieces & nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her grandson, Colten Adema. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont (600 Apache Drive) with Pastors Pete Byma & Stan Sturing officiating. There will be a time of visiting with the family at the church from 12-1 PM on Tuesday. Interment will be made prior to the service at the Danish Cemetery in Ashland Township.
