I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to Shem's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.

So very sad to hear about the passing of Shem - we had a lot of good times at IMT (Julioooooo....). My thoughts are with Shem's family - Mindi, kids, and mom.

Thanking everyone for their condolences. Please share your funny and warm stories with me and our children. He was the best father, uncle, friend, son, and man. He will always be remembered as our Superman, and reminding our older children as well as keeping those memories alive for our younger children are so very, very important. His hope would be that the millions of laughs he blessed everyone with will be the legacy that forms the beautiful people he gave life to always and forever. As life's troubles plague us all, he touched enough hearts and did more for others in every way that he could than most would or could even attempt to do in ten lifetimes. My best friend and Our babies Superman stumbled and sadly fell far too publicly. In the end ... How very proud I will always be that So many saw him get back up more times than anyone could even attempt to do... And for that we will always love deeply Our Superman!!! Thank you for allowing us very few truly understand your soft strength and admirable soul. There is nothing in the world I won't try to fix or hold together the way I know you'd be proud of when I'm holding the funny Shemo again. I will always remember the first moment I knew I loved you on the couch of your parents was when you played with my hair out of nowhere and kissed my forehead while whispering , "I love you!" It was the exact thing you did with each of our babies and now they already ask if i remember that. Always

There are never the correct words to empathize with a grieving family but know that in your time of grief I am here along side you grieving too. Shem was at one time like my little brother. Though lives drift apart memories don't. May you rely on God's love and also on those memories to help you through these very hard times. With love always Panzas

I worked with shem at Herman Miller for about 7yrs. He was a great friend. Unfortunately lost touch when he left Herman Miller. I am truly saddened. My deepest condolences to his children, and mother and siblings. He was a good guy.
