Shirley Ann Helmer

Mrs. Shirley Ann Helmer, age 77 years of Hesperia, went Home to be with her Lord after a short illness on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016.  She was born on July 20, 1938 in Oceana County, Michigan to Theodore & Bernice (Gorham) Zoulek.  Shirley had been a nurses aid at the Oceana Medical Care Facility for many years until her retirement in 1970.  She was a member of Hesperia Baptist Church, where she had been the church custodian, and where she had been a member of the Fellowship Committee, Building & Maintenance Committee, and the Ladies Missionary Fellowship.  On April 11, 1964 she married Terry L. Helmer and he survives her along with 2 children:  Jean Ann Westmoreland of Shelby, Mark Lincoln Helmer of Hesperia; 6 grandchildren:  Gregory & Jessica Keith, Brianna & Marissa Westmoreland, Tara Helmer, & Holly Ingalls; 2 brothers:  Ted Zoulek of Shelby, Tony (Paulette) Zoulek of Shelby; and brothers-in-law:  Wayne Krocing of Rockford, IL., Ray (Nancy) Helmer of Hart.  Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Krocing & Judy Love; by her brother-in-law, Glen Love; and by her sisters-in-law, Wanda Zoulek & Helen Helmer.  The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Hesperia Baptist Church (115 N. Smith Street) with Rev. William Blount officiating.  Interment will follow at West Hesperia Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 2-5 PM on Sunday, and at the church from 11-12 Noon on Monday.  Suggested Memorial:  Hesperia Baptist Church Building Fund.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
