Stanley H. Thornton

Mr. Stanley H. Thornton, age 89 years of Fremont, passed away on Monday morning, May 30, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He was born on September 10, 1926 in Lyles, Tennessee to Lloyd & Jimie (Poteete) Thornton.  Stan was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and he was a member of the Fremont Church of the Nazarene.  He had been employed by A & C Carriers in Muskegon, and by Gerber Products Company in Fremont for 5 years until his retirement in 1990.  He was a member of The Way Eye See It Blind Support Group in Hesperia.  On November 1, 1947 he married Jean B. McPherson and she survives him along with 2 children:  Stanley D. (JoAnn) Thornton of Fremont, Sue (Pete) Crans of Fremont; 8 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Ethel Clark; and 3 sisters-in-law:  Barb Thornton, Joan Phillips, & Betty Israel.  Stan was preceded in death by his brothers:  Norman "Kenny" Thornton, William "Bill" Thornton, & Morris "Micky" Thornton; and by his sisters, Laura Brugh & Edith Prongazz.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time.  Suggested Memorials:  Fremont Church of the Nazarene, or The Way Eye See It Blind Support Group in Hesperia.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
