Susan Kay (Wright) VanZanten

Susan Kay VanZanten peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones at Gerber Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 19, 2017.  She was born March 1, 1949 to the late Audrey and Harry Wright of Hesperia.  She joined Bernerd VanZanten in marriage on February 29, 1992 and together they have two cherished fur babies, Sophie & Cassie.  She is survived by her husband Bernie of Hesperia and her step daughter Marcella (Tom) Dever of Elmira, MI.; two granddaughters, Maisie and Jackie Dever; two great grandchildren, Liam and Hazel.  Susan will be mourned by her two sisters, Bonnie (Joseph) Fairchild, and Ruth Walker both from Hesperia; her three younger brothers:  William (Karen) Wright of Marion, NC., Richard (Barbara) Wright from Hesperia, and Joseph (Lorna) Wright from Hesperia.  She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Darrel Frees; and by brothers-in-law, Jim Twigg and Donald Frens.  Also grieving are her two sisters-in-law, Nancy Twigg and Carol Frens both from Fremont.  Sue had many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.  The VanZanten's are members of the GWRRA GoldWing Motorcycle Club Chapter N from Muskegon and were honored as the 2016 Couple of the Year.  Susan participated with the local Monday Quilters Club, and she was an avid Morel Mushroom hunter and looked forward to the season.  Cremation has taken place and there will be a time of visiting with the family and light refreshments served from 2-5 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Gerber Union Hall (5960 Warner Avenue).  Suggested Memorial:  Newaygo County Compassion Home.  Interment will be in the Spring of 2017 in West Hesperia Cemetery.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
