Vivian R. Vlas

Mrs. Vivian Ruth Vlas, age 88 years of Hesperia, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Friday evening, August 19, 2016 from Green Acres Assisted Living in Fremont.  She was born on May 14, 1928 in Hesperia, Michigan to Robert G. & Altha V. (Moon) Jones.  She was a faithful member of Hesperia United Methodist Church, where she had been the church organist for over 60 years.  On July 5, 1947 she married Donald W. Vlas and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by her infant son, Vaughn Vlas; by 2 brothers, Edwin & Gardner Jones; and by 1 sister, Elaine Webster.  She is survived by 6 children:  Daniel (Tatyana) Vlas of Orlando, FL., Thomas (Theresa) Vlas of Benton, LA., Norman (Christine) Vlas of Winston Salem, NC., Brian (Mary) Vlas of Rockford, MI., Donita (Gene) Christoffersen of Fremont, MI., Brenda (Mark) VanAppel of Hesperia, MI.; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, & 2 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Vernon (Elizabeth) Jones of Lansing, MI.; and 1 sister-in-law, Margie Smith of Springfield, IL.  The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hesperia United Methodist Church (187 E. South Ave.) with Pastor Paul Hane officiating.  Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from from 4-7 PM on Thursday.  Suggested Memorials:  Hesperia United Methodist Church, or the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Hesperia Library Endowment Fund.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
