Carol Lynne (VanZanten) Frens

Carol Lynne Frens, age 80 of Fremont, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, March 20, 2024 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont.  She was born on October 17, 1943 in Fremont, Michigan to Bernard & Violet (Merriman) VanZanten.  Carol was a retired farmer, she had worked at the Co-Op for 8 years, she was a school bus driver for 13 years, and she worked at Walmart for 6 years.  She was a through and through farm girl and worked up to 80 years old.  She was a member of First Reformed Church in Fremont where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, and she was a Girl Scout leader.  The highlights of her life were the cousin parties & many reunions, and having so many special high school friends from her graduating class.  On August 31, 1962 she married Donald K. Frens, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1996.  She was also preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children & grandchildren:  Paul (Katie) Frens & their children Kaiye, Jazlyn, Braelynn, Gannon, & Harlie; Keith (Samantha) Frens and their children Karter, Kayley, & Kash; Christopher Frens & his children Makayla & Patrisha; Marcella (Tom) Dever and their children Maisie (Justin) Dowty & their children Hazel & Liam, and Jackie.  She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Twigg; brother, Bernie VanZanten; sister-in-law, Corrine (Howard) Westcott; brother-in-law, Gary (Jan) Frens; nephews & nieces:  Jimmy (Ninajo), Jerry, Jeff (Sandi), Jody (Tim), Mark (Pam), Tracy, Micki (Shawn), Jodi (Doug).  According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at First Reformed Church in Fremont with Pastor Joel Zuidema officiating.  A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church.  The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Newaygo County Compassion Home, and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to the Newaygo County Compassion Home.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
