Gladys L. (Tanis) Lauritzen, age 92, died peacefully at Green Acres of Fremont, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. She was born on November 16, 1931 in Reeman, Michigan to Gilbert and Doris (Dykman) Tanis. She graduated from Fremont High School. Gladys married Bernard Lauritzen on August 10, 1951. Together they worked to establish Lauritzen Well Drilling where it grew to be a vital part of the community. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Fremont. During her lifetime, Gladys played softball in her younger years, enjoyed bowling in the afternoon women's leagues and traveled around the country bowling in yearly tournaments. She also was a faithful attendee of water aerobics and Tamarac where she walked many miles. She loved to garden, grow flowers, and have family get-togethers at the lake. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Bern. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Les, Gilbert, Alvin and Jerry; and her sisters: Pauline and Donna. She is survived by her children: sons, Ronald (Marilyn) Lauritzen of Fremont, Gary (Janna) Lauritzen of Grand Haven, and Kevin (Tina) Lauritzen of Allendale. Daughter, Mary Jo (Lane) Jividen of Winfield, WV. Gladys is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Julie (Dale) Norris (Anna, Drew, Allie); Lisa (Steve) Arcello (Ryan, Aaron); Steve (Emily) Lauritzen (Natalie, Clara, Meredith); Matthew (Emily) Lauritzen (Gwen, Benjamin); Kasey (Karol) Szlachta (Stanley); Korey (David) Holliday (Alistair, Noa, Walter, Sybil), Cam (Maggie) Jividen (Cayson); Andy Lauritzen; Meghan (James) Zeldenrust. Also surviving are her sisters Evelyn Harmon and Charlotte Andrews, and sisters-in-law Joyce Tanis and Eldora Gibbie along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thank you to the wonderful staff of caregivers at Green Acres of Fremont. Funeral services for Gladys will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 25, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Fremont with Dr. Steve Witter officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at church, from 10-11 AM on Monday.
