Lucy M. (Kleyn) Folkema

Mrs. Lucy M. (Kleyn) Folkema, age 94 of Allendale, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Green Acres Assisted Living in Allendale.  She was born Lucy M. Kleyn on April 29, 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of Teunes Peter and Klazina (Ekkel) Kleyn, Jr.  She married Henry Folkema in 1947.  She had worked for the Selective Service System as an Executive Secretary in Fremont, Lansing, and Grand Rapids.  She also had worked for the Soil Conservation Service and the Veterans Administration.  She later worked for the Department of Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as an Investigative Assistant, retiring on November 30, 1990 after being a federal employee for 29 years.  Mrs. Folkema was affiliated with the Coopersville Reformed Church.  She is survived by her sister, Fannie (William) Coonrod, Sr.  Mrs. Folkema was preceded in death by her brothers:  Anthony Kleyn, Elwin Kleyn, & John Kleyn; and by her sister Judy Tipton.   Also surviving are several nieces and nephews all of whom she loved so very much:  Susan and Phil, Pam and Kevin, John, Mary and John, Jack, and their families.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home with Pastor John Hines officiating.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will also be at the funeral home from 10-11 AM on Wednesday.  Suggested Memorial:  Multiple Sclerosis Society.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
