Mr. Alden J. Sneller, age 90 of Zeeland & formerly of Fremont, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was born on February 22, 1928 in Fremont, Michigan to William & Bertha (DeKuiper) Sneller. Alden was a US Army Veteran of World War II, and he retired from Gerber Products Company in 1988 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont where he had served as an elder & deacon, and he had attended Third Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland the last 6 years. Alden conducted Sunday services at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont for 35 years, and he had been an instructor for Crossroads Bible Study prison ministry for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Bertha Sneller; by his first wife, Edna Boeskool Sneller in 1987; by his sister, Lois Belle Witte; and by his son-in-law, Al Winchel. Alden is survived by his wife, Jean Deters Bode Sneller of Zeeland; by his brother, Bill Sneller of Grand Rapids; by his children: Duane & Joyce Sneller of Alto, MI., Phil & Faye Sneller of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Vera Hansen of Frankfort, Germany, Kay & Al Griffin of Grand Rapids, Eileen & Rick Alderink of Fremont, Les & Holly Sneller of Zeeland, Karen Winchel of White Cloud; 19 grandchildren & many great grandchildren; by his step-children: Jim & Peggy Bode of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, Judy & Ken Poll of Holland, Jon & Julee Bode of Los Gatos, California, Jan & Tom Smiley of Fort Mill, South Carolina; 8 step-grandchildren & 10 step-great grandchildren; and by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Deters of Grand Rapids. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Yntema Funeral Home in Zeeland. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, where visitation will also be held from 10-11 AM on Thursday.
