Arthur Luchie

Mr. Arthur Luchie, age 98 of Fremont, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 6, 2019 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in White Cloud.  He was born on July 28, 1921 in Fremont, Michigan to Henry & Anna (Maat) Luchies.  Art was a US Army Veteran of World War II, and he had been employed by Gerber Products Company for 44 years until his retirement in 1983.  He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, he was an avid golfer, and he was a Detroit Tigers fan.  Art also enjoyed attending activities of his grandchildren.  On June 28, 1943 he married Dorothy "Dot" Brookhouse, and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2007.  He was also preceded in death by his daughters:  Jane Luchie, Ida Mae Luchie, & Kaye Luchie; by his sisters:  Henrietta Luchies, Gertrude Dunning, Martha Tibbe, Susie Dykman, Gladys Sneller, & Alma Freriks; and by his brothers:  John, Harry, & Willis.  Art is survived by his daughter, Karen (Allen) Smith of Fremont; 3 grandchildren:  Ryan (Melanie) Smith, Erik (Fiancee Lola "Deanie" Hazel) Smith, & Kristen Smith; 1 great granddaughter, Ravyn Rose Smith; sister-in-law, Maxine Luchies; brother-in-law, Bernie (Marian) Brookhouse; and by many nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Drew Sweetman officiating.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.  Visitation will be at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 7-8 PM on Monday.  Suggested Memorial:  Newaygo County Compassion Home.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
