Carol J. (Peresada) Derks

Mrs. Carol J. Derks, age 79 of Newaygo, was called by the Lord to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 after a brief illness.  She was born on February 9, 1940 in Springfield, Massachusetts to John & Jean (Springle) Peresada.  Carol was a great wife, mother, & grandmother and she was an artistic painter.  She had also been a nurses aid at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility.  On November 15, 1958 she married Gerald "Jerry" Derks, Sr. and he survives her along with 5 children:  Gerald "JR" (Marlene) Derks, Jr. of Hesperia, Timothy Derks of Big Rapids, Patricia Hudson of Grand Rapids, Teresa Rodgers of Big Rapids, Jason Derks of Norfolk, Virginia; 19 grandchildren & 20 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Constance "Connie" Jordan of Fairview, Massachusetts; her half-brother, John Peresada of Quincy, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law:  Nancy Robinson of Fremont, Bill Derks of Newaygo, Linda (Michael) Deur of Newaygo; and by many nieces & nephews.  Carol was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, Phillip Peresada; and by her son-in-law, John Hudson.  Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at Fremont United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 5:00 PM with her brother-in-law, Michael Deur officiating.  A meal will immediately follow the service at church, and there will be a time to visit with the family prior to the service at church from 4-5 PM on Thursday.  Suggested Memorial:  Spectrum Health Hospice.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
