Mrs. Hildegard "Hilda" A. Stariha, age 83 of Fremont, went to her Heavenly Home on Friday morning, May 31, 2019. She was born on July 10, 1935 in Vienna, Austria to Fredrick "Fritz" & Charlotte "Lotte" (Suchan) Iranyi, and together they escaped the Nazi persecution in 1939. Hilda was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont where she was the Director of Religious Education and where she was instrumental with their Hispanic Ministry. She was the community swimming instructor for the Fremont Community School Program for 28 years until her retirement. Hilda was also a 4-H Eager Beavers leader for many years, and she was an Election Inspector for Sheridan Township. One of her favorite things to do was polka dancing with her husband Bob. She also owned & operated Stariha's Christmas Tree Farm with her husband Bob, which she continued to operate 10 years after Bob died. However, most important to Hilda was her faith and her family! Hilda was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert "Bob" J. Stariha, on February 14, 2004. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, John M. Stariha & Thomas A. Stariha; and by 4 grandchildren: Thomas Stariha, Andrea Stariha, Jonathan "Jono" Krystiniak, & John "Johnny" M. Stariha II. Hilda is survived by her children: Robert A. (fiancee Nan Cook) Stariha, Mary (Steve) Cotton, Joseph (Cindy) Stariha, James (Kim) Stariha, Patti (Ralph) Carpenter, Susie Stariha, Jeanie (Robert) Nicolai; daughters-in-law, Rose Stariha & Carolyn Stariha; 28 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Maryanne Christensen; & brother-in-law, John Mihal. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont with Fr. Pete Schafer as Celebrant. Visitation will be at the church from 6-8 PM on Monday where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM, and from 12-1 PM on Tuesday. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church, and interment will be at Peaceful Pines Cemetery at 4:30 PM on Tuesday. Suggested Memorial: All Saints Catholic Church Youth Ministry.
