Mr. Howard W. Winchel, age 90 of Rockford & formerly of Hesperia, passed away early Sunday morning, December 15, 2019 at his home. He was born on May 16, 1929 in Muskegon Heights, Michigan to Clyde & Florence (Parker) Winchel. He was a US Army Veteran. Howard was employed by General Motors on 36th Street in Grand Rapids for 30 years until his retirement in 1981. After his retirement he worked for Lyndrup Plumbing in Greenville, and for Pitsch Wrecking Company. He loved to hunt with coon hounds, and he enjoyed dairy farming. On February 11, 1949 he married Janet Golden and she survives him along with 6 children: Howard (Kim) Winchel, Shelley (Larry) Bronkema, Neil Winchel, Ann (Tim) Cook, Vickie (Roger) Lyndrup, Sue Winchel; 20 grandchildren & over 40 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna; sisters-in-law: Virginia Winchel, Janis Winchel, Ruth Ann Heacock; and brother-in-law, George (Sammie) Golden. Howard was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Winchel; by his brothers: Alda, Lyle, Ivan, & Neil; and by his sisters: Vera, Evelyne, & Virginia. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home with Pastors David Oliver & Bryan Tanis officiating. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 AM. Interment will be in the Spring at East Hesperia Cemetery. Suggested Memorial: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
