Janet M. (Maynard) Brookens

Mrs. Janet M. Brookens, age 79 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 24, 2016.  She was  born on January 23, 1937 in Fremont, Michigan to William and Marguerite (Johnson) Maynard.  Janet was employed as a secretary at the Fremont Public High School for twenty eight years.  She was a member of Fremont Wesleyan Church and the Caloosa Baptist Church in LaBelle, Florida. On February 18, 1956 she married Galen Brookens and he survives her along with 3 children:  Rodney (Colleen) Brookens of Fremont, Ronald (Joni) Brookens of Zeeland, Kari (Craig) Holcom of Grand Haven; along with 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Joyce Buursma of Zeeland; and step-sister, Jane Mary Kelly of Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Janet was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, William W. Maynard, Jr.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Fremont Wesleyan Church (918 Garden Avenue) with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating.  There will be a time of visiting with the family at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home from 7-9 PM on Thursday.  Suggested Memorials:  Fremont Wesleyan Church, Hospice of Michigan - Newaygo County, or the American Cancer Society.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
