Jean V. (Dodson) Schmitz

Mrs. Jean V. Schmitz, age 82 years of Walkerville, Michigan, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 in Dickson, Tennessee.  She was born on November 9, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to John Harvey & Marian (Cronin) Dodson.  Jean had been a school bus driver for Walkerville Schools for many years.  She was married to Gerald "Smitty" Schmitz for 48 years until he preceded her in death on November 12, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty Lee Dodson & Jonnie Elizabeth Karczewski.  Jean is survived by 9 children:  Jenny (Michael) Flanery, David (Debbie) Schmitz, Virginia (Dave) Prather, Jean (Randy) Hovey, Louie Schmitz, Madaline (Wayne) Shefke, Fred Schmitz, Buzz (Helen) Schmitz, Patty (Jim) Monahan; 34 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Barbara Sue (Harry) Bacalia.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home with Pastor Lucky Fulton officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday.  Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery.  Suggested Memorial:  Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
