Mrs. Kathleen "Katie" (Deter) Milthaler, age 55 years of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She was born on September 24, 1963 in Dearborn, Michigan to Richard & Beatrice (Ross) Deter. She graduated from East Kentwood High School in June of 1982. She worked as a home coordinator for R.O.I and later became involved with CITVAN. She married Steven Milthaler on September 27, 1997, and together they owned and operated Uncle Ernie's Pancake house in Kalamazoo from 1997-2011. After selling Uncle Ernie's Pancake house in 2011, they moved up north and Katie started volunteering at the Lake Haven Animal Rescue in Newaygo. Katie loved to spend time outdoors gardening, camping, and snowmobiling . She is survived by Steve, her husband of 21 years: two children: Bret Steven Milthaler of Florida, Samantha Kathleen Milthaler of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren; her father, Richard Deter of Newaygo; two brothers: Richard Scott (Wendy) Deter of Denton, Texas, Steven (Jennifer) Deter of Toccoa, Georgia ; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5-7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Croton American Legion (6812 S Croton Hardy Dr, Newaygo, MI 49337).
