Mr. Kenneth L. VandenBerg, age 70 years of Fremont, passed away on Monday morning, March 12, 2018 at his home. He was born on May 21, 1947 in Fremont, Michigan to Delbert & Ellamae (Frens) VandenBerg. Ken was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era, and he had been employed by Ameritech for many years until his retirement. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Fremont, and he was an avid fisherman & wood worker. Ken also volunteered at Gerber Hospital as a valet parking assistant, he was a volunteer at the Terry Wantz Historical Society, and he volunteered at Camp Newaygo building things. Ken is survived by his son, Jon (Missy) VandenBerg of Fremont; 4 grandchildren: Owen, Ella, Jack, & Kyli; 1 brother, James (Barbara) VandenBerg of Williamston, Michigan; 1 sister, Linda (Denis) Schrier of Manistee, Michigan; and by several nieces & nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and by his son Brent Brent VandenBerg. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at First Reformed Church in Fremont (348 E. Main Street) with Shane Crowley officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 10-11 AM on Wednesday. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
