Nels Ivar Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Nels Ivar Johnson, Jr., age 92 of Roscommon, MI., went to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, October 6, 2019.  He was born on March 14, 1927 in Ludington, Michigan to Nels Ivar & Hilda Marie (Holmstrom) Johnson.  Nels was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and he was a member of the Roscommon VFW Post #4159.  He graduated from the University of Michigan, and was a Regional Wildlife Biologist for the State of Michigan DNR.  Nels enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horses.  He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diana Johnson; 6 children:  Dawn (Larry) Reynolds, Lisa (Dan) Picot, Cheryl (Brian) Farmer, Mike VanSimaeys, Leslie (Barry) Anderson, Andy (Kristie) VanSimaeys; 13 grandchildren & 21 great grandchildren.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Cherry Grove Church of the Nazarene in Cadillac, MI. with his son-in-law, Pastor Brian Farmer officiating.  Suggested Memorial:  Cherry Grove Church of the Nazarene.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
