Susan Stroven Seator, 78, passed away in the loving presence of family members at her home in Sunriver, Oregon, on December 1, 2019. Sue is now in peace and free of the constraints of the cancer she battled at the end of her life. She was born in Fremont, Michigan, the first child of Stanley and Dorothy (Vasold) Stroven. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Capt William H. Stroven, and her son Scott. Sue is survived by her husband Douglas and daughter Anne.
Sue grew up in Fremont on her father's farm, home to the Greenwood Farms Dairy. After graduating from Fremont High School, she attended Michigan State University, earned a degree in elementary education, and subsequently taught first and second grades in Irondequoit, New York, White Cloud and Brandywine, Michigan. Sue also enjoyed working for General Electric at the 1965 World's Fair while living in New York City. Following the birth of her son, she dedicated her time to being a full time parent and homemaker. Sue spent eighteen years living in Asia while her husband was working there, where she was active in Bible study as well as volunteer activities supporting her children's schools and activities. After moving to Sunriver in 1998, Sue remained active in her community through volunteer work with her church, as well as the local library, Red Cross, and music festival. Her meaningful contributions to these causes were recognized through volunteer awards from these organizations as well as from the Sunriver Chamber of Commerce. Throughout her life, Sue also pursued her love of nature and the outdoors through activities such as hiking, canoeing, biking, and gardening, and remained an avid traveler.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30-11:00 AM.
