Alissa Hawk Obituary

Alissa Rochel Hawk, age 49, died on April 13, 2021 in Muskegon, MI.  She was born on March 10, 1972 in Muskegon, MI.  to parents Andres Garza Sr. and Lucy Whitten.  She married Ted Hawk on March 25, 2000, and he survives her along with her mother Lucy Whitten and step-father Melvin Whitten; children:  Dominick Niño, Julian Girard, Telissa Hawk and Alax Hawk; granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Niño; brothers:  Andres (Jamie) Garza Jr., Manrick (Tennile) Garza, Adrian (Rachel) Garza Sr.; sisters, Margarita Alviar and Carissa Garza.  She was preceded in death by father Andres Garza Sr., grandmother Cecelia Florez, aunt Rachel Florez, & uncle Dan Florez.  Alissa’s journey of life began in the Muskegon area. Her parents Lucy Whitten and Andres Garza started their family in Wolf Lake. She was the second oldest of six siblings. At the young age of seventeen Alissa was diagnosed with Epilepsy. She battled the disease for quite some time while still managing to graduate from Muskegon High School in 1991. A short time after graduation she had her first born child Dominick Jose Nino on September 13, 1991.  Dominick was born on Friday the 13th in Muskegon. About 9 months later she would have her second born child Julian Ricardo Girard on May 18th 1992.  Julian was born prematurely in Texas while Alissa was visiting her sister who lived there.  Over the years in Muskegon while raising her two sons as a strong single mother and battling her epilepsy she met her soon to be husband, her other half Ted Hawk in August of 1998. The two would marry a few years later on March 25th, 2000. In the transition of moving from Muskegon to Holton she would have her third born child, her first daughter, Telissa Luce-Marie Hawk on February 12th, 2003 born in Muskegon. While building a life in a new community she had her youngest born child Alax Alan Hawk a few years later on September 24th, 2006. As her family was complete with good health and many blessings she fulfilled her love by raising her children and enjoying her family wholeheartedly at every moment. Her life became even more meaningful and special as her first granddaughter was born Olivia Kree Nino on January 13th, 2013 followed by her second granddaughter Ava Aleese Nino August 13th, 2016. Alissa always kept her children and family first. Her favorite color was purple as she proudly represented epilepsy awareness as she battled epilepsy most of her life. She enjoyed the simple things in life from Bird watching in her chair to watching her favorite T.V. shows such as Little House On The Prairie and General Hospital.  She always enjoyed a good meal with her family whether at home enjoying her favorite taco dinner or at a restaurant where she enjoyed a taco salad with an ice cold Margarita on the Rocks. She dearly enjoyed going to her community church, Holton United Methodist where you could find her with a bright smile lighting up the room in which she touched many people's hearts and filled them with Love and Joy. She also loved many things in nature such as dolphins in which she collected many figurines and things of that sort, and she also loved to watch the sunrise and sunset. She was also an animal lover.  She loved dogs and also cats, and she was allergic to cats but still always wanted one. Alissa also enjoyed music; her favorite artists included Selena, Elvis and many others. Alissa was filled with Life, Soul, and Wisdom. She had a Big heart that offered a lot of Love. She will Forever and Always be Loved and Missed and may She Always and Forever Live through her Family.  An outdoor service, a celebration of Alissa’s life, will be at the Holton United Methodist Church Prayer Garden on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM.  Suggested Memorial:  The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
