Arlene Hooker Obituary

Arlene Joy Hooker, age 89 of Fremont, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2026. She was born on October 28, 1936, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Michael & Mildred (Miel) Windbacher.


Arlene was a member of Reeman Christian Reformed Church, where she served on several committees, preparing and serving meals. Her love language was making sure everyone was well-fed. Every visit to her house included homemade sweet treats: strawberry shortcake, chocolate sheet cake with whipped topping, cinnamon rolls, or her famous coffee cake. She also enjoyed attending her grandkids’ events, sewing, puzzles, and going on road trips up North.


On October 30, 1956, she married Harley J. Hooker; he preceded her in death on January 2, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Delores (Jack) Workman & Judy Wozny; great-grandson Rhys Allen Postema; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carl & Virginia Sneller, Marv & Gerry Hooker, Les and Sylvia Hooker, Lou Hooker, & Eleanor Hooker. Arlene is survived by 6 children: Cheryl (Allen) Postema of Fremont, Tim (Jody) Hooker of Fremont, Dave (Emily) Hooker of Fremont, Nancy (Steve) Bisson of Grant, Amy (Mike) Ensing of Fremont, Linda (Ben) Westgate of Fremont; 20 grandchildren: Matt (Priscilla) Postema, Mark (Molly) Postema, Dan (Sarah) Postema, Rachel (Tyler) Huntley, Nik (Jennie) Hooker, Bethany Hooker, Megan Johnson, Amy (Brent) Davis, Amanda (Marc) Trombley, Jordan (Paige) Hooker, Mindy (Travis) Engelhard, Mitchell (Monica) Bisson, Salina (Dontay) Robertson, Colby (Adam) Tein, Blake (Ashley) Ensing, Noland (Emily) Ensing, Lincoln Ensing, Sydney (Logan) Mullett, Cam (Heidi) Westgate, Mason Westgate; and 40 plus great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Joan (Larry) Maxwell; and by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mike Wozny, Verla Hooker, Duane & Corrine Burt, Dale Hooker, Stan & Barb Witte, Lloyd & Sally Hoekert; and by a multitude of nieces and nephews.


The Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Reeman Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Les VanDyke officiating. Visitation will also be at the church from 4:30-6:00 PM on Friday. The service will be livestreamed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4qMequmEQ0. Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery.
