Astra Lea (Sartwell) Anderson

Astra Lea Anderson, age 79 of Hesperia, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at her home.  She was born on September 21, 1945 in Fremont, Michigan to Ronald & Burnetta (Doud) Sartwell.  Astra had been employed at Howmet for 35 years until her retirement in 2001.  She was an active member of Aetna Calvary Church where she was a member of the Ladies Mission Circle, taught Sunday School, organized many funeral luncheons, and was involved with Sonshine Kids.  Astra had vacation bible school at her house, she attended Christian Women’s Club, and she was member of the Red Hat Ladies.  She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, especially Canasta, and she was a dog and cat lover.  Astra also enjoyed helping the elderly, especially her sister Eula May Booher.  She is survived by 2 children:  Tammy (Mark) Dodson, Todd Anderson; 5 grandchildren:  Ashley (Thomas) Schultz, Curtis (Chelsie) Dodson, Anna (Reuben) Nelkie, Travis Anderson, Trent (Sarah) Anderson; 18 great-grandchildren:  Madison, Mackenzie, Thomas, Jr., Tyler, & Kaelyn Schultz, Abbigail, Evelynn, Ryland, Ellie, & Emma Dodson, Raina, Keagon, & Grayson Anderson, Trent, Jr., Kaylyn, Josiah, Isaiah, & Savanah Anderson.  She is also survived by her sister, Eula May Booher; brother, Barry Sartwell; and by several nieces & nephews.  Astra was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald & Burnetta Sartwell; and by her brothers:  Blaine, Gayle, & Eugene Sartwell.  The family would like to thank Astra’s church family and her grandson & his wife, Trent & Sarah Anderson, for all of their help during this time.  According to her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration Astra’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Aetna Calvary Church with Pastors Ron Workman & Justin Blackwood officiating.  A luncheon and time to visit with the family will immediately follow in the church fellowship hall.  Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery.  Suggested Memorial:  Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya in Shelby, Michigan.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
