Barbara Ann Strong ( Strickland), 74 of Fremont MI, went home to be with the Lord on August 2nd, 2024. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Barb was born on December 5, 1949 in Grand Rapids MI., and she was the daughter of the late Gertrude and Edwin Strickland.
She met the love of her life William (Roger) Strong in the summer of 1963 at the young age of 14. Two short years later they married on December 11th, 1965. They married close to her birthday so Roger would not have to remember too many dates.
Barb had a love for serving others. She started at a young age as a server at Jane's, she spent 20 plus years watching children in home where she cared deeply for them. She worked 18 years serving at Wal-Mart in the pharmacy, where she touched many lives with her kind and compassionate heart to listen. After she retired Barb did not stop serving, but took a job driving people in need to and from the store and appointments. Barb was loved by anyone who met her. She had an indescribable gift of making you feel like family. Her dedication was always to God, her husband, and her boys. She found complete joy and contentment in setting around bonfires with her family listening to her children and grandchildren sing. If you had the pleasure of meeting Barb you know she knew no blood, so she was always known as mom or grandma to everyone who knew her.
Barb is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger Strong; her sons: Bill (Lina) Strong, Brian ( Trixie) Strong, and Bob Strong; 16 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren; sister, Rita Jones; brother, David Strickland, sisters-in-law, Laura Strong and Gerri Frasier; brothers-in-law, Richard Strong and Jerry Brooks; several nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.
Awaiting her in heaven were her parents; her son, Brandon Strong; daughter, Shalon Strong; brothers: Terry Frasier, Tom Strickland, and Robert Strickland; mother-in-law, Mildred Brooks; sisters-in-law: Wendy Strong, Pam Fassett, Erlinda Strickland, Darlene Craner; and brothers-in-law: Larry Strong , Joe Brooks, and Jim Craner.
Barb had a Strong faith and loved the Lord deeply. You could see this in how she always loved others. She was a quiet woman who spoke deeply with her heart for people. She would always find the best in anyone and encouraged you to always see the best in yourself. She listened well and gave anything she had. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Fremont Christian Church, followed by a luncheon and time to visit with the family. Suggested Memorial: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com. Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
