Barry Badge Obituary

Barry A. Badge, age 71 of Newaygo, passed away on Thursday evening, July 14, 2022 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids, following a long illness.  He was born on August 28, 1950 in Greenville, Michigan to Everett Junior & Lila Louise (Bogart) Badge.  Barry worked for many years in manufacturing, and he retired from Frigidaire in Greenville.  He was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church, where he served on church committees and sang in the church choir.  He enjoyed reading, and was an avid learner as well as a fountain of information.  Barry loved to talk, especially about politics.  He enjoyed camping, and was a collector of many different things.  On June 15, 1974 he married Catherine “Cathy” A. Bowen, and she survives him along with 1 son, Martin (Jamie) Badge of Newaygo; 4 grandchildren:  Aly Badge, Garrett Derks, Haley Derks, & Wyatt Derks; 1 great-grandson, Max Derks.  Barry is also survived by his mother-in-law, Beatrice Bowen; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law:  Yvonne (Everett) Binder, Dennis (Nanci Zeran) Bowen, Tom (Jackie) Bowen, Brian (Kelly) Bowen, Jeff (Paula) Bowen; and by many nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father & mother, Everett & Lila Badge; by his step-father, Kenneth Bush; and by his father-in-law, Fred Bowen, Jr.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Newaygo United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Charnley officiating.  There will also be a time of visiting with the family at the church from 12-1 PM on Monday.  Interment will be in Newaygo Cemetery.  Suggested Memorial:  Newaygo United Methodist Church.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
