Betty Jean (Derks) Hallmeyer

Betty Jean Hallmeyer, age 89 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday afternoon, June 21, 2025.  She was born on January 17, 1936 in Fremont, Michigan to George & Hattie (Klomp) Derks.  Betty was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, she had owned & operated Betty’s Custom Drapes for over 40 years, and she loved flowers and doing yard work.  On May 26, 1956 she married Robert Hallmeyer and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2008.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Steve Hallmeyer, on September 28, 2009; brothers:  Milan Derks, Melvin Derks, Vern Derks, Melbourne “Pete” Derks, Irwin “Curly” Derks, Weldon Derks, & Ken Derks; and by her sister, Judy Karp.  Betty is survived by 2 children, grandchildren, and great-children:  Daughter Kimberly (Eric) Berry and her children & their children, Chris (Karen) McDonald and children Amanda & Anthony, Brandon (Sariena Maka) McDonald, Matthew (Stacy Sova) McDonald, Sarah (Jessie) Gregory and children Lacy & Kylie, Ryan (Krystal Smith) McDonald & son Elijah, Eric (fiancée Kilee Lovelace) McDonald; Son Mike (Belle Mallari) Hallmeyer and children Christopher & David Hudson.  She is also survived by her brothers & sister:  Bob (Mary) Derks, Marlene (Al) Karnemaat, Gary (Fran) Derks; brother-in-law, Wilbur Karp; sisters-in-law, Sandy Derks & Phyllis Derks; and by many nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at the First Christian Reformed Church Fellowship Hall with Pastor Taylor VanWagner officiating.  There will be no visitation.  A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church.  Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery.  Suggested Memorial:  The Newaygo County Compassion Home.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
