Beverly Collins Obituary

Beverly Jean Collins, age 76, of Muskegon, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Trinity Health Hauenstein Neuroscience Center - Grand Rapids Michigan. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Beverly was born on September 19, 1948, to Lyle and Lucille (Lanciaux) Collins in Muskegon. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School in 1966.

Beverly began her career as an exceptional waitress, working at various restaurants, including her favorite, Lakos Steakhouse. She later became the proud owner of Beverly’s Excellent Cleaning Service.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Beverly was active in St. Michael’s and Our Lady of Grace Parishes, serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and choir member. She was also a Past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, demonstrating her commitment to her faith community.

Throughout her life, Beverly faced challenges with Bipolar Disorder. She was known as a force to be reckoned with but also as one of the most fiercely loyal individuals you could ever meet. Always willing to help those in need, she was a constant presence at family gatherings, where her humor and storytelling entertained everyone. She lovingly cared for her mother, Lucille, and her mother-in-law, Carrie Plouhar Larson, during their later years. Her step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren were deeply loved and held a special place in her heart.

Beverly had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved reading and solving crossword puzzles and was an avid sports fan. She took great pride in cheering on Muskegon hockey teams, the Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders, and the Detroit Lions. Beverly also enjoyed watching professional golf. Above all, music was her greatest passion. She adored Elvis and The Beatles and found immense happiness in singing and dancing to her favorite tunes.

In her later years, Beverly resided at Seminole Shores Assisted Living, where she depended on the dedicated care and support of the staff. Her presence left a lasting impression on those around her, reflecting her unique spirit and resilience.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Lucille; her sisters, Barbara Barry and Patricia Versluis; and her fiancé, Alan Schaefer. She is survived by her brother, Lewis (Margie) Collins; her sisters, Kathleen Morgan and Maggie (Tom) Reeder; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
