Bonnie Jean Langer, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2025. Bonnie was born on July 7, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio to Helen Bowers Langer and Walter Langer. As a youngster she was also nurtured by her beloved aunt and Uncle Jack and Lavona Williams and with them she found she loved horses.
She was a Registered Nurse and Psychologist at Newaygo County Community Mental Health for 19 years. There she was an advocate for children and adults with special needs. She worked as a nurse in Jackson, Battle Creek, and Marshall Michigan for 25 years.
Bonnie earned her LPN and Associates degree from Jackson Community College, her RN from Foote Hospital in Jackson, her BS in Health Services and MA in Counseling, Psychology from Western Michigan University.
Bonnie was a valued member of St John’s Episcopal Church where she served as a Vestry member, Daughter of the King, and Sunday School teacher. As Outreach Chairperson, she encouraged her church family to care for needy families in many ways.
She was an active member of the Civilian Auxiliary of the Air Force Civil Air Patrol for 20 years and a supporter for 60 years.
In Fremont, she was involved with the Newaygo County People for Peace and in Battle Creek Parents without Partners.
Her love of music led her to DJ for weddings and events so others could enjoy the rhythms as well. She was a line dance instructor, and researching antiques led to an Antique Business in downtown Fremont. She was a Euchre competitor. She knew sign language and signed “Silent Night” every Christmas Eve at St John’s Episcopal Church. Throughout her life it was obvious her passion was to help people.
Bonnie is survived by her son Craig Alan Langer who lives in Cadillac, Michigan, Granddaughters Kirstin and Taylor, Great Granddaughter Jemma K, as well as nephew Nicholas Ghantous, and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia Ghantous, and her brother James Langer.
Bonnie’s funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on June 8, 2025 at St John’s Episcopal Church in Fremont with Father Everett Kline officiating. A luncheon celebrating Bonnie’s life will be served at the church following the service.
Bonnie’s choices for memorials are St John’s Episcopal Church, Fremont Shop with a Cop, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Shriners Hospital for Children.
