Brent Robert Shortsle

Brent Robert Shortsle, age 57 of Newaygo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026 at his home. He was born on March 6, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Robert Lee & Esther Thalia (Duitsman) Shortsle.  Brent was currently employed by Nagel Construction as a heavy equipment operator.  He loved deer hunting, boating, and he was an avid NASCAR fan.  On August 15, 1992 he married Lisa Marie Dusendang and she survives him along with 2 daughters & 6 grandchildren:  Tricia Leigh (Josh) Haveman & their children Noah & Jacob, Sarah Marie Shortsle & her children Sawyer, Kol, Millie, & Wyatt.  Brent is also survived by his brother, Timothy Shortsle; sister, Brenda (Todd) Keeler; mother-in-law, Marcia Dusendang; sister-in-law, Jamie (Jim) Schmuker; uncle, Arn (Beth) Shortsle; many nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends.  Brent was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Esther Shortsle, and by his father-in-law, James Dusendang.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Brent’s life will be held at a later date.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
