Carolyn Ann (VanHemert) Drake

Carolyn Ann Drake, age 88 of Grant, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at her home.  She was born on February 18, 1938 in Fremont, Michigan to William & Sena (Vos) VanHemert.  Carolyn had been a seamstress for Brookhouse Cleaners in Fremont, and she had been the Bridgeton Township Clerk for many years.  She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bridgeton Township, and she was a member of the Red Hat Society in Fremont.  On June 25, 1955 she married Peter “Pete” Drake and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2002.  She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Kathy Lynn Drake & Luanne Kay McLean-Erb; 1 son, Randy J. Drake; 2 brothers and their wives, John (Jean) VanHemert, Harvey (Barbara) VanHemert; and by 1 sister and her husband, Thelma (Russell) Witte.  Carolyn is survived by her son-in-law, Randy Erb; daughter-in-law, Cathy Drake; adopted daughter, Brittany Thompson; grandchildren:  Ron McLean, Leon McLean, Todd (Dana) McLean, Misty (Troy) Bischoff, Ashley Drake, Duane Drake; great-grandchildren:  Brittany (Brian), Lauren, Randy, Joseph, Angel, Avery,& Aaron (Kristie); great-great grandchildren:  Conner, Sophie, Isabella, Jaden, Jodilee, Julius, Olivia, & Amelia; and by many loving nieces & nephews.  According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney McLean officiating.  There will also be a time of visiting with the family from 10-11 AM on Friday.  Interment will be in Bridgeton Township Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Bridgeton Township Hall.  Suggested Memorials:  Newaygo County Compassion Home, or Bellwether Harbor Senior for Seniors.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
