Charlotte Daniels Obituary

Charlotte Sue (Hardesty) Daniels, age 93 of Hesperia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, and reunited with her husband of 69 years, Bob Daniels who passed away in May, 2020. Her parents; Wayne Hardesty, Hazel (Campbell) Hardesty, and her three siblings; June (Hardesty) Scroggins, Roland Hardesty, and Loren Hardesty preceded her in death. Charlotte graduated from Valparaiso High School in Indiana in the class of 1949. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, Bob Daniels. They were both in the high school band. Bob was a drum major and Charlotte was a majorette, but they didn't know each other until the band director chose them for a special routine. They both sat on the bleachers, far apart, the lights were out, and a love song was played. They scooted closer and closer until the lights came on, and the love song ended with the two of them kissing. That kiss was the beginning of a long, happy relationship. Bob joined the Navy and they were separated for their senior year of high school. When he returned from the Navy, Bob finished high school, and the two of them ended up working together at Clover Leaf Dairy, where Charlotte fell in love with chocolate ice cream sodas. The two of them were married on February 11, 1951. Charlotte then went to work at Siever's Insurance Company, where she soon quit and became a stay-at-home mom. She kept busy at home as she raised 3 sons and 2 daughters; Alan, Kim, Keith, Randy, and Cindy. Her children will always remember her as an incredible cook and a phenomenal baker. She baked everything from breads to pies, to cookies and candy. The favorite of the family were the danish sweet rolls she would make for the weekend trips to Michigan. She outdid herself in the baking department around Christmastime, where you would also find her kids helping to make the cookies. The chocolate snowball cookies were always a family favorite and remain so today. If Charlotte wasn't busy baking or cooking, she would be sewing or knitting clothes or household goods for the family. In 1968, a new adventure began when the family moved from Valparaiso to their home in Hesperia, Michigan. Charlotte continued her job as a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown and out on their own. She then began her own career, working for various companies until she landed a job as dispatcher for GTE in 1980. She loved this job and continued with GTE until her retirement in 1995. Her home and family continued to keep her busy, as did her love of shopping for antiques and special treasures. They decided to dig a lake on the property, and once that was done, she enjoyed days of kayaking and walking around the lake in search of pink rocks. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and leaves behind her children, Alan (Lyn) Daniels, Kim (Bob) Christie, Keith Daniels and David Gifford, Randy (Kathy) Daniels, and Cindy Cygeirt and Amanda Currier. She is a grandmother of 5, Jolene (Brian) Paauwe, Bradley (Rachel) Daniels, Kristy (Scott) Dodge, Daniel Cygeirt, and Maya (James) Fairfield, and a great grandmother to 11. She will be forever loved and missed, but years of memories will always be with us. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life. Let us all remember that goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means we'll miss her until we meet again.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
