Chief Bryan Jay Hawk, age 58 of Holton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Mercy Health – Mercy Campus in Muskegon from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born on May 10, 1963 in Muskegon, Michigan to Orville & Marie (Rasmussen) Hawk. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Bryan had worked for the Holton Township Fire Department for 31 years, including the last 2 ½ years as Chief. He was also a handyman for Rose Companies at Pine Grove Manor. Bryan enjoyed riding his motorcycle, shooting his guns, but most of all he enjoyed camping & kayaking with his family. On March 9, 2012 he married Lori Risner, and she survived him along with 5 children: Rose (Chris) Burrous of Twin Lake, Amber (Fiance BJ Smith) Hawk of Muskegon, Dustin (Samantha) Risner of Holton, Kari (Brian) Sheffield of Fountain, Cory Wiener of Muskegon; 8 Grandchildren; his parents; 4 siblings: Rodney (Kristy) Hawk of Hesperia, Jill Burns of North Carolina, Joan (Jim) Cutlip of Ohio, Ted Hawk of Holton. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marc Hawk, and his sister-in-law, Alissa Hawk. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Bryan's life will be held outdoors at the Holton United Methodist Church Prayer Garden at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 with Pastor Matt Stoll officiating. Please bring your own lawn chair for seating. A time to visit with the family will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Holton Township Fire Department.
