Christopher "Chris" John Nelson

Christopher “Chris” John Nelson, age 44 of Newaygo, completed his journey from this life on Monday evening, July 25, 2022 from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.  He was born on May 18, 1978 in Grand Rapids Michigan to John & Barbara (Witteveen) Nelson.  Chris graduated from Fremont High School in 1997, and he was an Eagle Scout.  He was a heavy equipment mechanic for over 20 years, and for the last year he was a parts specialist for David Allen Racing.  Chris was a NASCAR fan, as well as a fan and participant of motocross racing with both quads and dirt bikes.  He also enjoyed snowmobiling and deer hunting.  Chris will forever be missed by his daughter, Dawn (Jessie) Siersema; granddaughter, Harper Siersema; and mother, Barb Nelson.  He is also survived by his father, John Nelson; sister, Kimberly Nelson; girlfriend, Tricia Hunter; and by several aunts, uncles, & cousins.  Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents:  Mary Lou & Henry “Hank” Hopkins, Kenneth & Frances Nelson.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Chris’s life will be held at a later date.  Suggested Memorial:  The Newaygo County Compassion Home.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
