Clara "Clare" Mae (Raymond) Schoenmaker

Clara “Clare” Mae Schoenmaker, age 96 of Fremont, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026 at Corewell Health Gerber Hospital in Fremont.  She was born on May 17, 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan to Ellis & Anna (Nelson) Raymond.  Clare was retired from Geerpres in Muskegon, and she was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fremont.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, square dancing, gardening, and playing cards.  On June 28, 1947 she married George W. Schoenmaker and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2005.  She was also preceded in death by her sons, Gary & Larry Schoenmaker; daughter, Jan Burrous-Farrell; grandson, Jeremy Schoenmaker; brothers, Harold & Lloyd Raymond; and by her sister, Marge Craaybeek.  Clare is survived by 2 sons:  Tom (Gayle) Schoenmaker of Clarkston, MI, Bruce (Naomi) Schoenmaker of Newaygo, MI; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter; and by numerous nieces & nephews.  A Graveside Service will be held in the spring of 2026 at Sherman Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church, or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
