Cobie (Schut) Wolfsen

Mrs. Cobie Wolfsen (Schut), age 98 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, May 13, 2023.  She was born on May 17, 1924 in Hudsonville, Michigan to Cornelius & Nellie (Mesbergen) Schut. Cobie’s family moved to Grant, and worked in the muck fields until she graduated 8th grade from Grant Schools on May 20, 1938. She moved to Fremont where she met Gerard Wolfsen at the bowling alley, and they were married on June 12, 1947. She was employed by Gerber Products Company, and worked in the labeling room. She also did housecleaning for several families in Fremont, and worked at Gerber Hospital in housekeeping & laundry. After retirement, Cobie & Gerard traveled around the USA, and lived in Bradenton, Florida for 5 months in the winter. Cobie was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont, where she had been a member of the Mary Martha Society, as well as a Calvinette Counselor.  She was preceded in death by Gerard on October 22, 2015.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry & John Schut; and by her sister Thressa VanDyke. Cobie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Henley of Fremont; grandson, Michael Johnson, Jr.; 6 great-grandchildren:  Brittany, Alex, Megan, Destiny, Taylor, & Dilyn;  5 great-great- grandchildren; and by several nieces & nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Drew Sweetman officiating.  Visitation will also be at the church from 11-12 Noon on Saturday.
