Dale Harvey Luchies

Dale Harvey Luchies, age 73 of Fremont, MI., passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Corewell Health Blodgett Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a difficult and lengthy health struggle. 

Dale was born on March 10, 1952 to Harvey & Elizabeth “Tiz” (Tubergen) Luchies in Fremont, Michigan.  Dale did machine repair & machine building at Alcoa, behr Industries, and Teledyne Continental Motors throughout his working career.  He was also a member of Church of the Living Christ in Fremont.  Dale loved tinkering, fixing, designing, and building anything & everything.  He also enjoyed flying his powered parachute, camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with family. 

Dale married the love of his life, Sherri (Cordts) Luchies, on April 15, 1977.  During the last 48 years they created many memories and went on lots of adventures together, traveling many, many miles.  His legacy and knowledge will live on forever through his children & grandchildren. 

Dale is survived by his wife, Sherri; 3 children:  Jeremy (Ashley) Luchies, Amanda (Chris) Waalkes, Brittany (Chad) Mazie; 12 grandchildren:  Joel, Evan (Lily), Ella & Blayke Luchies, Javen, Brynlee, Avery, Breckin & Tenlee Waalkes, Braxton & Payton Mazie; and 1 great-granddaughter, Hazel Dunning.  He is also survived by 2 brothers:  Larry Luchies, Glenn (Janet) Luchies; father-in-law, George Cordts; several sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law; and by many nieces & nephews.  Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Tiz Luchies; sister-in-law, Nancy Luchies; and by his mother-in-law, Lucy Cordts. 

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Inspire Church, 918 Garden Ave. Fremont, MI with Pastor Dan Ackerman officiating.  The visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, 637 E. Main St. Fremont, MI.  There is an additional visitation at church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  All are welcome for luncheon immediately following the service.  Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, MI at 2:30pm.
