David L. Waalkes

David L. Waalkes, age 81 of Hesperia and formerly of Muskegon, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 22, 2021 at The Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon.  He was born on March 19, 1940 in Muskegon, Michigan to Martin and Lenore (Pastoor) Waalkes.  David graduated from Muskegon High School, where he played basketball for the Big Reds and was known as Tiger Waalkes.  He had worked for Orkin Pest Control, and he retired as a custodian from Wyoming Public Schools.  David enjoyed dancing, and going out to eat.  He is survived by his companion, Coral Dutcher of Hesperia.  He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Mary Waalkes; by his brother, Martin “Marty” Waalkes; and by his cousin, Bob Zorn.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.  Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery, next to his wife Mary.  You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com.  Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
