Denis Richard Janes, 82 of Fremont, Michigan, entered into eternal life on March 19, 2026. He was a kind, loving brother to Fran Brandi and Janet (Tom Leaton) Janes. Denis is also survived by his brother-in-law Martin Martlock, and by many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters & brother: Marylou Ansari, Patrick Janes, and Deborah Martlock; and by his brothers-in-law, Lute Ansari and Jim Brandi.
He was born August 10, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan but grew up in Northville.
After proudly serving his country in the Army, he settled down where as a boy he had always dreamed of living, on a beautiful lake. He resided in Fremont for over 50 years.
He lived a life of service helping others. He was a co-founding member of the Newaygo ALANO Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3111, and an active parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church. In addition, he donated his time and expertise volunteering to set up x-ray rooms in Jamaica.
But his passion was GOLF. When playing golf was not an option, Denis enjoyed shooting pool with friends. “Life is just like a game of billiards – problems, solutions, recoveries.” The next time you make a difficult shot, think of Denis. He will always be remembered for his engaging conversation, making people feel comfortable, and his humor. He will be missed by so many who were recipients of his kindness and generous nature.
The Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus Council 3111 at 9:45 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at All Saints Catholic Church. Visitation will follow from 10-11 AM, and the Memorial Mass will begin at 11 AM with Fr. Pete Schafer as Celebrant. Military Honors will follow the mass at church, and a luncheon will immediately follow that ceremony at the church. Interment will be made with his family at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. Suggested Memorials: All Saints Catholic Church, or Knights of Columbus Council 3111. You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com. Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.
