Dirk Howard Kolk, age 93 of Fremont, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, February 27, 2023. He was born on July 20,1929 in Fremont, Michigan to Arie and Nellie (Van Goor) Kolk and grew up on the family farm. He married Beverly Beekman on March 20,1953, and was a lifetime member of Second Christian Reformed Church of Fremont. Dirk was a Korean War Veteran and marched in the Memorial Day Parade for many years. He retired from the US Postal Service after nearly 40 years as a Rural Letter Carrier. He was an avid bowler and won several bowling awards. After retirement Dirk and Bev spent many winters in Florida where they enjoyed spending time with new friends. Dirk is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Beverly; daughter Marianne (Roger) Klassen of Grandville, son Roger (Suzanne) Kolk of Fremont; grandchildren Dirk Kolk of Holland, Sarah (Eric) Zerlaut of Holton, Kristine (Cory) Snook of Belmont, and Andrew Klassen of Burlington, KY; great grandchildren Oliver and Evelyn Snook; and sister Marcia Kolk of Fremont. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters Vera Vellenga and Beth Schipper; and great grandson Eric Zerlaut Jr. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A M on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Second Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Pastor Dave Brower officiating. Visitation will also be at the church prior to the service from 10 AM to 11 A M on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. In lieu of flowers the family suggested Memorials are The Fremont Area Community Foundation for either the Fremont Christian School Endowment Fund, or for the Second Christian Reformed Church Endowment Fund.
