Donald “Donnie” Dale Hills, Jr., age 63 of Hesperia, passed away on Thursday evening, November 28, 2024 at his home. He was born on November 13, 1961 in Fremont, Michigan. Donnie was a meat cutter for most of his life at various grocery stores, until his disease prevented him from working any longer, when he then became a “public relations engineer”. He was a member of Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ, and he had been a volunteer fireman for Hesperia and Ferry. Donnie had served on the Hesperia Village Council, and he was a member of SAL at the Hesperia American Legion Post #411. He was a fan of University of Michigan football and the Detroit Tigers. Donnie loved to play the guitar, and he loved to be outdoors which included fishing and hunting. He had a quick witted sense of humor, and loved being with his family and friends. Donnie is survived by his significant other, Holly Spaulding; children & grandchildren: Stephanie Valdes and her children Evin & Irey; Ashley (Anthony) Tanner and their children Triniti, McKennah, & Gabrielle; DJ (Haley) Hills and their children Lilly & Carter. He is also survived by his siblings: Rhonda (Greg) Riddle, Brad (Heather) Hills, Deanna (Matt) Joppich; brother-in-law, Jim Lavin; many nieces & nephews; and by his good friends Eric & Jimmy. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice & Inez Dutcher; and by his sister, Mari Jo Lavin. There will be a time of visiting with the family from 4-7 PM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home in Fremont. A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Jonathan Riedel officiating.
